The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 is scheduled to be played from 18th August to 20th September in Trinidad & Tobago. Confirmation for the tournament was already announced on Friday, July 10 after the approval from the local government along with the local authorities of Trinidad and Tobago. This the first T20 league which is going to be played after the outbreak of coronavirus.

All the teams and official members will be quarantined in one hotel under strict protocols for the first two weeks in the country. Each member who is traveling from overseas will go through two COVID-19 tests, one at the time of departure and second at the time of arrival in Trinidad.

All the members of teams and officials are asked to follow the rule of “Social Distancing” into the “households” but there will be a small cluster where some measures can be laid-back. However, if any member of that cluster exhibits signs of COVID-19 at any time of the tournament then the whole cluster will need to self-isolate themselves for a period of 14-days afterward.

What will be the timings of CPL?

This time, the CPL 2020 will start most of the matches according to the Indian time-zone i.e. from 7:30 PM (IST) to increase the television viewership. All the matches will be played behind closed doors under the COVID-19 guidelines.

So far, there have been around 133 confirmed cases of COVID-19 from which 117 patients have already been recovered. This the first time that any flight will land after the shutdown of borders in March due to Coronavirus pandemic.

It would be very interesting to see many big names like Rashid Khan, Marcus Stoinis, Ross Taylor and Carlos Brathwaite to play in the tournament. And this will be the first season to feature any Indian player (Pravin Tambe) in the tournament. The Legspinner, Pravin Tambe, is all set to play from Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2020.
